“I’m now doing a plumbing apprenticeship with NWRC and I am employed with PM plumbing, I am working on site and I was able to start straight away because I had my CSR card. Thank you”

"I approached the women's centre back in May as I had been economically inactive for 5 years, looking after my grandchildren since I was made redundant from my job as a classroom assistant. I needed help to fill in an application form for a local nursery school. Ciara prepared me for the interview and even gave me advice on what I could wear, she was encouraging, and she made me feel confident. I couldn’t believe it when I got the job! Ciara helped me with completing my access ni as I wouldn’t be great with computers. I couldn’t have done this without the help of her and the women's centre. Thank you!"

Within the project we continue to engage with the local community including those with complex needs, socially disadvantaged individuals and ethnic minorities. One of our participants who is South African has just relocated to the area and was unable to make a claim for Welfare Benefits due to inefficient habitual residence. He was able to get support from the project to transition to part-time employment. He was also able to access a referral to a Welfare Rights Officer to complete applications for benefits/grants. He was also signposted to the Social Supermarket in Ballymagroarty to help with food poverty. This had made a huge difference to his life and has given him the start here that will enable him to integrate into the local community.
